Cora, wife and mother with an apparently serene life, one day, seized by a fit of anger, kills a stranger, without reason and with extreme ferocity. After Cora's confession, the lack of motive leads Detective Harry Ambrose to investigate what happened in the young woman's psyche. In season two, Ambrose returns to his hometown after a 13-year-old boy confesses to poisoning his parents and learns the secrets the townspeople are determined to keep buried.
In the third season, Ambrose begins to investigate a very serious accident that happened in a town not far from New York. During the investigation, however, he will unearth a mystery buried for years.
