Cowboy Bebop è una serie tv statunitense basata sull'omonimo anime giapponese. La storia è ambientata in un futuro in cui il mondo che oggi conosciamo non esiste più. Nel tentativo di lanciare i viaggi iperspaziali, nel 2021 viene installato un gate sperimentale purtroppo danneggiato, che esplode accidentalmente colpendo la Luna e causando così la deriva di uno sciame di asteroidi e meteoriti sul pianeta Terra, con il conseguente sterminio di gran parte dei suoi abitanti.
