Writing for Deadline, Nellie Andreeva describes Cursed as “a retelling of the Arthurian legend, told through the eyes of Nimue, a young heroine with a mysterious gift destined to become the powerful (and tragic) Lady of the Lake. After the death of her mother, finds an unexpected partner in Arthur, a young mercenary, in an attempt to find Merlin and deliver an ancient sword. During her journey, Nimue will become a symbol of courage and rebellion against the terrifying Red Paladins and their accomplice King Uther ". Still in the same article, Andreeva defines the series as «a coming-of-age story whose themes belong to our age: the destruction of nature, religious terrorism, senseless wars and the courage to go beyond the impossible».
Scrivendo per Deadline, Nellie Andreeva descrive Cursed come «una rivisitazione della leggenda arturiana, raccontata attraverso gli occhi di Nimue, una giovane eroina con un dono misterioso destinata a diventare la potente (e tragica) Signora del Lago.
