In a parallel world, the soul of people manifests itself in the form of a daimon, a talking animal, usually of the opposite sex, which is always at the side of its human counterpart. Every aspect of the society of this world is controlled by a religious regime called Magisterium which determines its power over science and progress as a theocratic dictatorship, skeptically approaching the aspects of the universe that it does not understand and declaring as a heretic every study or scholar, witch or who else questions what religion has established.
In un mondo parallelo, l'anima delle persone si manifesta sotto forma di daimon, animale parlante, solitamente di sesso opposto, che sta sempre al fianco della sua controparte umana. Ogni aspetto della società di questo mondo è controllata da un regime religioso detto Magisterium che determina il suo potere su scienza e progresso come una dittatura teocratica, approcciandosi scetticamente agli aspetti dell'universo che non comprende e dichiarando come eretico ogni studio o studioso, strega o chi altri metta in discussione quanto stabilito dalla religione.
