In the Outer Banks of North Carolina, a group of teenagers, the "Pogues", live in the poorest and most maladjusted part of the island on the edge of legality. The parent company, John, has lost his father for nine months: he has in fact disappeared while he was looking for the treasure of the Royal Merchant. So, determined to find his father and also the treasure, he convinces his friends Kiara, Pope and JJ to follow him. From here, events related to friendship, love, drugs, aspiration for the future and a sense of helplessness in the face of the island's rich, the "Kooks", branch out.
Nelle Outer Banks della Carolina del Nord un gruppo di adolescenti, i "Pogues", vive nella parte più povera e disadattata dell'isola al limite della legalità. Il capogruppo, John, ha perso il padre da nove mesi: questo è difatti scomparso mentre era alla ricerca del tesoro della Royal Merchant.
