Lisa "Lisey" Landon is the widow of the famous writer Scott Landon, who has been dead for two years now. Lisey is still overwhelmed by grief, but she still has to defend herself against the insistent demands of Professor Roger Dashmiel, intent on obtaining the late author's unpublished manuscripts. While rummaging through her possessions from her husband, Lisey discovers that Scott has left her clues for some sort of treasure hunt, but her search for truth is hampered by the insane Jim Dooley, whom Dashmiel has set on her trail. .
