Kirby Mazrachi is a Chicago Sun-Times archivist. Years ago, she was brutally assaulted and left for dead, but her assailant was never found. Today she is still traumatized by the aggression and struggles to make sense of her reality of her which continues to change. Determined to find her assailant, she uncovers a murder that bears a striking resemblance to her own attack on her. Kirby enlists the help of reporter Dan Velazquez and together they discover several cold cases from decades of similar murders and begin the hunt for a mysterious serial killer.
