August 1896. Victorian London is devastated by a supernatural event that gives some individuals, mostly women, strange abilities, some exceptional, others alarming. All members of this new subclass are in danger. The protection of these gifted "orphans" falls on the shoulders of the mysterious widow Amalia True and the brilliant young inventor Penance Adair. To succeed in their aim, they will have to face the evil forces that wish to exterminate their species.
